Institute at El Museo del Barrio
CALTA21 (Cultures and Literacies through Art for the 21st Century) launched its first professional development institute at El Museo del Barrio, in conjunction with El Museo’s acclaimed exhibition, “Testimonios.” During these two days at El Museo, museum educators and City University of New York (CUNY) English instructors, professors, professional developers and literacy specialists explored Visual Thinking Strategies and discussed best practices that would strengthen students’ English language and critical thinking skills, as well as give cultural participation and museum ownership to our country’s newest residents.
